These whole rye grains (Secale cereale) are a versatile addition to your kitchen, whether you’re milling your own flour, baking earthy rye breads, or cooking them into salads and grain bowls. Not to be confused with annual ryegrass, this is true cereal rye - grown for eating, not lawns!

Rye has an impressive nutritional profile. A 100g serving provides around 335 kilocalories, and it’s packed with protein, fibre, and essential B vitamins (like niacin and B6), plus manganese, phosphorus, and other vital minerals.

Cooked rye grains have a toothy, satisfying bite, ideal for rustic dishes or as a nutty base in savoury meals. Or mill at home for fresh, full-bodied rye flour.
